It seems like many designers are in a nineties nostalgic stage right now and Mark Fast wasn’t an exception. He directly catapulted the audience to a rave in the 90′s last saturday when he presented his Spring/Summer 2014 collection as part of London Fashion Week. It was a special ode to his heroes Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain.
It was, his show notes told us, a celebration of youth and “woven memories of trance” set to the backdrop of a big night out circa 1995. He’s a genius when it comes to the research of fabrics. He took traditional wool and shredded it into something much more grungy . It was all about bodyhugging dresses with neon accents. It was a collection full of engery: calm and chaotic at the same time.
His muse was one who owns the night. Confronted by the sun, her soul screams, “Whatevs.”, read the show notes.
